Located in Central Virginia, the Monticello Appellation, (an American viticulture Area) covers most of the counties of Albemarle, Green, Orange and Nelson, along the Blue Ridge Mountains, measuring about 1,250 square miles.
Most of the wineries we include here in our tour itinerary suggestions are "officially" in the Monticello Appellation; a couple are said to be technically outside the boundaries but still list the appellation on their labels as their fruit is purchased from growers from within it, but frankly we don't really care...we just support yummy wine. "Yummy" has been determined to be a technical wine tasting term as we have been informed by the pourers in the wineries that we visit on a regular basis. Who are we? We're Arcady Vineyard Wine Tours. We're the oldest owner-operated wine tour guide service here in Charlottesville, Virginia. We also run a Wine Country-themed B&B complete with a vineyard from which we make dessert wine served to our guests as a turndown service with local artisan chocolate. We have a social hour at check in, when we serve local wine and cheese.
Located only 6.5 miles from Charlottesville's exciting pedestrian walking mall, full of shops and restaurants, and 2.5 miles from Jefferson's Monticello, Arcady Vineyard B&B offers a serene and relaxing atmosphere for the wine lover.
After touring guests to Virginia wineries since 2003, and hosting guests since 2006 at our B&B, we have compiled what we think is the best information for guests visiting Charlottesville. We are lising this information at www.monticelloappellation.com to assist guests in planning their wine tasting experience here in Charlottesville's Wine Country!
