Weekend update June 8, 2007

Hi All!
Activities are always going on and loads of fun at the wineries and wine shops here in Charlottesville. Here’s a sampling of what’s going on this weekend:

What: Wine Tasting

A “Blended” Evening Tasting! From 4:30pm to 7pm – there is no charge but so many yummy wines for wonderful prices that you’ll be sure to go home with a bottle or two!
Mike Jackson from The Robins Cellars will be pouring 6 wines for tasting that are all blends of 2 or more varietals. Here’s what you’ll taste on Friday:

White Blends:
2006 Tariquet Ugni-Blanc & Colombad – France
2006 A-Mano Fiano-Greco – Italy
2005 Kumkani Chardonnay & Viognier – South Africa

Red Blends:
2004 Sherdian Kamiakin ( Bordeaux Blend) – Washington State

What: Picnic, music, dancing!

The Cardinal Point Summer Concert Series starts off with a bang! Saturday, June 9 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Admission is $10 and you receive a glass, while the proceeds benefit The Paramount Theater.

THE CASHMERE JUNGLE LORDS, an eclectic blend of roots rock, surf and acoustic “swamp sets” will be performing.

Be sure to bring a picnic, but no alcohol is allowed. Cardinal Point wine will be available for purchase either by the glass or bottle.

What: Starry Nights picnic, music, dancing!

Every second Saturday of the month during the warmer weather is “Starry Nights” at Veritas which runs from 7 to 11 p.m. Entry fee is $10 and includes a Veritas glass. The music this evening is King Cadillac, retro Rock ‘n Roll.

Where: King Family Vineyards

What: Polo Match starting at 1:30pm

When you drive onto the property, you’ll see the polo field straight ahead, to the left of the winery. You can tailgate, parking your car well behind the boards (50 feet or more).

Everyone is encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and a picnic. The winery has light picnic snacks for sale along with (of course!) wine by the glass or the bottle.
