There are folks, who for some reason think that wine tasting is only offered during warmer weather. Here in Charlottesville, we enjoy it year ’round! While there are one or two smaller wineries who close until Spring, most simply shift to a winter schedule.

During these slower times wineries have a chance to offer specials like barrel tastings.
Blenheim, open daily 11 am to 5:30pm, can be contacted to reserve a barrel tasting at $25 per person.
For this price you enjoy a tour with winemaker Kirsty, tasting from the barrels, and then taste the line of bottled wines.

Also, don’t forget our brewery trail here just west of Charlottesville – they are located in the same general area as the wineries in Crozet/Afton.Should you need a bite to eat during touring, consider Blue Mountain, open every day but Monday, from 11:30 – 10pm, where lunch can be ordered along with your beer tasting.
If your group are not all beer drinkers Blue Mountain also offer local wines.
Another local favorite Starr Hill, located in Crozet, where the tasting bar is smack dab in the middle of the brewery.
Open on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm with tastings and tours (on the hour), which is sure to please your avid beer drinker!
